1.6L & 2.0L models of exceptional design, innovation and safety

Kuala Lumpur, 25th November, 2009 – Naza Kia Sdn Bhd, the official distributor for KIA, announced the arrival of the long awaited all new Forte today.

Designed by Peter Schreyer, Europe’s highly acclaimed automotive designer, the Forte is Kia’s best design yet. Combining the latest technologies into the four-speed ‘Gate Type’ automatic transmission, the Forte 1.6 EX, 1.6 SX and 2.0 SX models set themselves apart from competitors by offering the highest levels of specification, superior styling, design and handling which will rival any competitor in its segment.



The entry level Forte 1.6 EX comes with 15-inch wheels and also includes front fog lamps and anti-lock breaking system (ABS). Its interior has dual front seat airbags for passenger and driver and an electro chromic rear view mirror that reduces headlight glares. All variants will have increased audio connectivity with additional USB and iPod connectivity.

The SX variant offers improved driving stability and car handling with the electronic stability control (ESC) pack. It also includes ABS, electronic brake distribution (EBD), cornering brake control (CBC), brake assist system (BAS) and traction control system (TCS). The SX also features the Supervision Cluster which provides better visibility for safe maneuvering.



Each element of the Supervision Cluster illuminates a reddish tone throughout the interior when lit, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. With comfort in mind, designers have created the Forte 1.6 SX with the ergonomically designed telescopic steering that allows adjustments of steering distance and height. The SX variant features an enhanced climate control system to include full automatic air conditioning with optimum control.



Increasing air conditioning efficiency, the SX windshields are coated with protective ultra violet tints to filter out harmful sunrays. The 17-inch alloy wheels model come with the highly accurate Rear Parking Assist System (RPAS) that detects distance and obstruction whilst parking. Displayed on the car’s ‘message centre’, this is a standard for SX variants. With increased audio connectivity, the 1.6 SX is equipped with an in dash six compact disc changer.



Taking it one step further is the Forte 2.0 SX with its powerful Theta II 2.0 DOHC CVVT engine, capable of achieving 156 PS horsepower and a high of 194 Nm torque. Demonstrating its dynamic image, it has 17-inch alloy wheels and is equipped with all features found on the 1.6 SX. The 2.0 SX comes with a premium leather package, 6 airbags and Motor Driven Power Steering system (MDPS), which enhances steering stability, further reducing fuel consumption.

The higher variant Forte 1.6 SX is unique amongst its competitors as it comes with the state of the art ‘Smart Key’ and push-button ignition that starts and stops the engine with simple operation. This model also features all standard specifications available on the EX versions.



The Forte 1.6 EX is priced at RM 75,800 OTR, while the Forte 1.6 SX and 2.0 SX are priced at RM 81,800 OTR and RM 93,800 OTR respectively. The Forte series is available in six trendy new colours – Clear White, Bright Silver, Metal Bronze, Titanium Silver, Spicy Red and Ebony Black.
