Directions: From Kuala Lumpur via Jalan Loke Yew. Head towards Cheras but u-turn back towards Taman Midah at the MRR2 interchange. After Taman Midah, turn left into Jalan Yaacob Latiff
Info / Insights: The International Youth Centre, which opened its doors in 1988, is supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. It is located on a 4-acre site at Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras. The IYC organises and hosts various youth activities such as training courses, seminars, workshops, conferences and youth exchange programs. The building houses a youth resource centre, library, exhibition centre, gym, meeting rooms, a hall, cafeteria and a surau. There is also an outdoor camping ground.
The IYC is also equipped with 48 hotel rooms and 10 dormitories, complete with air-conditioning and attached bathrooms. Like its counterparts such as Wisma Belia or the YMCA, the centre accepts room guests of all ages. So don't be shocked if you see (like I saw) some senior citizens smoking by the corridors. The promotional rates are RM 60 for a single room and RM 80 for double-room. Dorms are from RM 25 per person.
