Nine Pictures From The Nine Emperor Gods Festival |
Ampang, 18th October 2009: Take Photo RM 5. For nine days, the entire neighbourhood becomes one massive business
operation.
Beer company banners are strung on the perimeter fence, while houses display parking fees on their gates.
From the vendors to the panhandlers, it is their once-a-year
golden goose.
Its commercial success
probably inspired
those copycat NEG temples mushrooming all over the
country.
The temple does give
back to society by operating a
kidney dialysis centre and a shelter for the
elderly nearby.
Incidentally,
the compound of these
two places are the
best
spots to park. Parking charges apply, naturally.
To be fair, the
hawker
(in the picture above) do offer a rather
unique
product.
He
probably got fed up
with
all the
shutterbugs
poking their lenses closely and scaring away customers.
