Sg Lembing - The Town That Stopped Ticking |
Sg Lembing, 7th October 2007: Cross Roads. Sg Lembing is named after the many spear-points flowing in the river during the
rainy seasons. The river is now shallower with much silting. This wooden bridge leads to villages and Orang Asli settlements.
With nearby waterfalls, caves and many natural attractions, I hope Sg Lembing is developed into an eco-tourism and
heritage attraction. It certainly has tremendous tourism potential with its warm and friendly people. Meanwhile, immediate measures
ought
be put in place to preserve and restore some of the charming
wooden
shops in town, before it is too late.
Many thanks to Daniel Tang and the wonderful people of Sg Lembing who provided assistance and invaluable insights.
